Forgely Capture is a lightweight, downloadable desktop screen capture application for Windows. It provides full-screen and region screenshot capture, screen recording with audio, and a floating toolbar for quick access to capture tools. Unlike the browser-based Forgely Screen Recorder, Forgely Capture runs as a native Windows application with system tray integration, global hotkeys, and the ability to capture any window without browser restrictions.

The browser Screen Recorder runs in your web browser with no installation required — it is the quickest option for one-off recordings. Forgely Capture is a full Windows desktop application that provides: global hotkeys that work even when the browser is not open, system tray access for always-available capture, region selection for precise screenshot capture, higher-quality recording options, and the ability to capture any application without the browser's screen share dialog. Use the browser recorder for occasional quick captures; use Forgely Capture for frequent or professional-quality capture work.

Forgely Capture requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). The installer is approximately 114 MB. For screen recording, ffmpeg must be available on the system. A minimum of 4 GB RAM and 500 MB of available disk space is recommended. Forgely Capture does not run on macOS or Linux.

Forgely Capture Pro costs $25 as a one-time payment — no subscription, no renewal fee. The license is lifetime and covers the current major version plus all minor updates. This is a one-time purchase that unlocks all Pro features permanently.

Default global hotkeys: Print Screen or Ctrl+Shift+S for full-screen capture, Ctrl+Shift+R for region capture, and Ctrl+Shift+V for screen recording toggle. All hotkeys can be customized in the app settings. Because these are global system hotkeys, they work even when other applications are in focus — you do not need to switch to Forgely Capture to take a screenshot.

Screenshots are saved as PNG (default), with options for JPG and BMP in settings. PNG is recommended as it is lossless and ideal for screenshots with text and UI elements. Screen recordings are saved as MP4 using H.264 encoding via ffmpeg, making them compatible with virtually all video players and platforms including YouTube and social media without conversion.

ffmpeg is a free, open-source multimedia framework used for video encoding. Forgely Capture uses ffmpeg to encode screen recordings into MP4 format. If ffmpeg is not found on your system, the app will notify you and provide instructions for installing it. ffmpeg is free to download from ffmpeg.org. Screenshot capture does not require ffmpeg — only screen recording does.

Download the ForgelyCapture-Setup.exe installer from forgely.tools/downloads/. Run the installer and follow the on-screen steps — the process takes under a minute. After installation, Forgely Capture starts automatically and minimizes to the system tray. Right-click the tray icon to access all capture options, or use the global hotkeys immediately.

No. All screenshots and recordings are saved locally on your device. Forgely Capture does not upload, transmit, or access your capture content. The only network communication the app makes is for license verification (for Pro users) and checking for software updates — neither of which involves your capture content.
