What's included

Everything a screen capture tool should do

Forgely Capture packs the best features from ShareX, Greenshot, and OBS into one clean Windows app — free, with no watermark.

4 Screenshot Modes

Full screen, active window, any region you drag, or a timed 3-second delay. Global hotkeys mean you never have to leave what you're doing — just press PrintScreen.

Free

Screen Video Recording

Record your entire screen, a specific window, or any custom region. Free version records silently in crisp WebM format with no time limit and no watermark.

Free (silent)

Audio Recording

Capture system audio — YouTube, browser tabs, music, game sounds — plus your microphone simultaneously. Perfect for tutorials and demos. Requires Pro.

Pro — $25

Annotation Editor

Click any capture to open the full editor. Draw arrows, rectangles, circles, and lines. Add text, yellow highlights, and blur boxes to redact passwords or faces. Unlimited undo.

Free

GIF Recording

Record any area of your screen as an animated GIF — perfect for showing UI interactions, short demos, or creating shareable clips without the overhead of a full video file.

Free

Webcam Overlay

Add a floating circular webcam bubble over your recordings — the "talking head" effect used in tutorials and product demos. Position and resize it anywhere on screen. Requires Pro.

Pro — $25

Global Hotkeys

PrintScreen captures the full screen. Alt+PrintScreen captures the active window. Shift+PrintScreen opens the region selector. They work anywhere — even when the app is minimized to the tray.

Free

System Tray Operation

Forgely Capture lives in your Windows system tray — always ready, never in the way. Double-click to open, right-click for quick capture shortcuts. Starts with Windows optionally.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Forgely Capture completely free?
Yes. Forgely Capture is free to download and use with no time limits and no watermarks. The free version includes all four screenshot modes, video recording, GIF capture, the full annotation editor, global hotkeys, and system tray operation. A Pro version ($25 one-time, lifetime license) adds audio recording, webcam overlay, cloud upload, OCR, and scrolling capture. The core free tool isn't going anywhere.
Does Forgely Capture add a watermark to recordings or screenshots?
No. Forgely Capture never adds a watermark — not in the free version, not in the Pro version. Your screenshots and recordings are completely clean files saved to your Pictures folder.
How do I take a screenshot with Forgely Capture?
Press PrintScreen for a full-screen screenshot, Alt+PrintScreen for the active window, or Shift+PrintScreen to drag and select any region. Screenshots are saved automatically to Pictures/Forgely Capture and copied to your clipboard. You can also use the buttons inside the app window.
Can Forgely Capture record audio from a browser or application?
Yes, with Forgely Capture Pro. The Pro version captures system audio — everything playing through your speakers, including browser video, YouTube, music apps, and game sounds — plus optional microphone audio simultaneously. The free version records video silently with no audio track.
What is the difference between Forgely Capture Free and Pro?
The free version includes all screenshot modes, silent video recording, GIF capture, the full annotation editor, global hotkeys, and system tray operation. Forgely Capture Pro adds: audio recording (system audio + microphone), webcam overlay bubble, scrolling capture, cloud upload to Imgur/Dropbox/Google Drive, video trimming, OCR (extract text from any screenshot), custom hotkeys, custom filename templates, and multiple monitor support. Pro is a one-time $25 payment with a lifetime license and free updates.
Does Forgely Capture work on Windows 11?
Yes. Forgely Capture is fully compatible with Windows 11 and Windows 10 (64-bit). It requires approximately 150 MB of disk space and at least 256 MB of RAM. It runs in the system tray so it is always available without cluttering your taskbar.
How do I annotate a screenshot in Forgely Capture?
Click any screenshot thumbnail in the Recent Captures panel to open the annotation editor. Choose a tool from the left toolbar: arrow, rectangle, circle, line, text, highlight (yellow marker), blur (to redact sensitive information), or crop. Select your color and line width from the right panel, draw your annotations, then press Ctrl+S to save or Ctrl+C to copy to clipboard. Ctrl+Z undoes the last action.
Can I record a specific window or area of my screen?
Yes. Clicking "Window" in the Record section opens a source picker showing all open windows and screens with live thumbnails — click the one you want and recording starts immediately. Clicking "Region" shows the screen overlay where you drag to select any custom area to record. Both modes are available in the free version.
What file format does Forgely Capture save recordings in?
Video recordings are saved as WebM files using the VP9 codec — high quality and compatible with all modern browsers, VLC, Windows Media Player, and most video editors. Screenshots are saved as PNG files. GIF recordings are saved as animated GIF files.
How do I blur or redact sensitive information in a screenshot?
Open the screenshot in the annotation editor (click it in Recent Captures). Select the Blur tool from the left toolbar, then click and drag a rectangle over the area you want to hide — such as a password, phone number, email address, or face. The region is blurred with a strong gaussian blur. Click Save to write the change to the file.
